i had already picked up another book and was still thinking about dante and ophelia.

so yes, we need to talk about imprisoned with the vampire king by lola glass.
is imprisoned with the vampire king worth it?
if you want a quick paranormal romance with spice and a stubborn man trying to take care of a stubborn woman, yes.
but let me be honest about what you’re getting. this book, and the series, isn’t where i’m sending you for hundreds of pages of plot depth. it gets going quickly. the spice hits sooner than later. things that could take up a much longer book are brief here.
lola glass writes a mean sex scene, a hot ass masculine man, and she does a great job of grabbing you into the story. that’s what worked for me.

she goes in to break him out. pretending they’re obsessed with each other becomes part of the escape plan.
ophelia goes into shadowside penitentiary to break dante, the vampire king, out. she created the magic keeping the prisoners inside, but it isn’t working the way she intended. keeping her identity hidden means pretending they’re together becomes part of the escape plan.
fake relationship. sorta. forced proximity. two very stubborn people.
dante is why we’re here
i love how he chases. he gives her space until he knows she doesn’t need it. he protects her, cares for her.
and the care shows up in actual things he does. early on, he helps with her heavy backpack. later, when she’s lost blood, he refuses more sex. he wants her, but he also pays attention to what her body can handle.
he’s still possessive. still overbearing. this isn’t me saying he suddenly becomes easy to deal with. ophelia is stubborn too, and having someone determined to look after her doesn’t mean she makes it easy for him.
that’s the part i loved: the chase, the protection, and a man who wants to take care of her.

how spicy is it?
i rated it 3.5/5 because the spice hits early and it’s smutty, what more can i say? there’s biting and knotting (you’ll know when you read it), so keep that in mind if you’re new to her paranormal romances.

do you need to read the other books first?
no. this is book five in the fated mate bonds series, but dante and ophelia’s story works as a standalone and has a happy ending.
i can and will recommend the whole series. book one and book three are my favorites. honestly, i think if you like one of these, you’ll enjoy them all. but the same goes the opposite way.
if you want to start at the beginning, go for pretty little wolf. my other favorite is pretty little death.

final thoughts
quick doesn’t mean forgettable. i really enjoyed this one, and i was still thinking about it after moving on to another book. (which is so fucking annoying tbh)
