verdict

a human girl dropped into a school where she absolutely does not belong, paired with the one guy who can't seem to stand her, and surrounded by people who are a lot less human than they appear. fun, addictive, and incredibly easy to binge, this one feels like the perfect blend of paranormal academy chaos and spicy romance. just make sure you're emotionally prepared for that ending before you start.

vibe

this book wastes absolutely no time. if you're looking for a slow burn paranormal romance where everybody politely ignores their attraction for 400 pages, this is not that. satanic shadows is fast-paced, chaotic, spicy, and completely committed to its premise from the very beginning. she's thrown into a school full of non-humans who are literally being taught how to interact with humans. unfortunately for her, a lot of that curriculum involves sexual exploration. even more unfortunately, she's paired with the one person who seems to hate her existence. you know where this is going.

spice

🌶🌶🌶🌶 — the spice starts early and never really takes its foot off the gas. if you're here for sexual tension, possessive energy, and paranormal spice, you're in the right place.

“The divine darkness does not exist without her.”

reader fit

read this if

you want paranormal romance with lots of tension, a heavy dose of spice, academy vibes, possessive villains, and a story that moves quickly. if "he hates her but saves her" is your thing, you'll probably fly through this.

skip this if

you're looking for intricate worldbuilding or a super dark paranormal romance. this book leans much more into the chemistry, drama, and entertainment factor.

content warnings

paranormal violence, explicit sexual content, bullying, power imbalances, and darker fantasy themes. always check the author's trigger warnings before reading.

standalone + hea

book one in the broken realms series. fair warning: this book ends on a cliffhanger, and book two isn't out yet. proceed at your own risk.

what you’ll find in this book

this one is FUN.

like chaotic, fast-paced, can’t-put-it-down kind of fun.

she’s a human dropped into a monster school — and not just any school. one where they’re literally learning how to be… intimate with humans.

and her partner?

the one guy who hates her.

for no reason.

(or at least… not one she understands yet.)

it’s tense, it’s weird in the best way, and it doesn’t waste time getting into it.

my take

if he doesn’t hate her first… it doesn’t hit the same.

spice level breakdown

spice rating: 4/5

🌶🌶🌶🌶

this is spicy.

you’re in a world where monsters are literally learning how to interact with humans — kiss, touch, sex… all of it.

so yeah. it leans into it.

it’s not subtle, and it’s not trying to be.

if you’ve read kiss of the basilisk, it’s that kind of energy… just different.

tropes in satanic shadows

  • dark academia

  • monster x human

  • enemies to lovers

  • forced proximity

  • high tension dynamic

  • “he hates her for no reason” energy

final thoughts

this is one of those books that just… works.

it’s not trying to be overly deep or complicated — it’s here to entertain you, and it does.

fast pacing, strong tension, and a concept that’s different enough to stand out.

just know:

it ends on a cliffhanger.

and book 2 isn’t out yet.
