dane dalton cannot stand her. he makes that very clear.
she is human. she does not belong at this academy. she does not belong anywhere near him. and he is going to make sure she knows it at every possible opportunity while also, quietly, devastatingly, being the only one who keeps showing up when something goes wrong.
that’s the thing about dane that the book slowly reveals and you feel in your chest before you can name it. he dismisses her, disregards her, treats her like an inconvenience — and then something threatens her and he is there. immediately. completely. without explanation.
