is a Kindle worth it or overhyped? (for heavy readers)
kindle vs physical books is one of the most searched questions in the reading community right now.
now this is coming from someone who swore she would only ever read paperbacks.
and then i got a kindle.
and somehow ended up convincing way too many people around me to get one too.
i can’t speak on other devices, i only use a kindle. but if you’re a heavy reader and wondering if it’s actually worth it… here’s my honest take.
if you’re already considering it, here’s the exact kindle i use →

who this is for
if you read 2+ books a month, mostly romance, and you’re tired of buying every book individually… this is for you.
if you’re a casual reader, you probably don’t need it.
what is a kindle
a kindle is an e-reader that lets you download and read books digitally, all in one place.
no stacks of books, no running out of bookshelf space, and no waiting on shipping.
why i love it
it’s simple.
black and white. no distractions. just reading.
getting books is ridiculously easy. one click and it’s there.
but the biggest pro? the cost.
if you’re reading more than two books a month, it’s already worth it.
kindle unlimited is around $11.99–$12.99 a month, and you can read as much as you want. most of the romance books i recommend are on KU, so you’re getting access to a huge library for the price of one paperback.

the pros
- cheaper if you read often
- instant access to books
- lightweight and easy to carry
- battery life is unreal (like… weeks)
- perfect for night reading
the cons (honest)
the upfront cost.
removing ads costs extra (annoying, but manageable).
and if you’re reading in the heat for a long time, it can get a little warm.
that’s honestly it.
my take
if you’re a heavy reader and still buying every book individually… you’re making it harder than it needs to be.
final thoughts
i switched to kindle and never went back.
i still love the idea of physical books, but for actually reading consistently? kindle wins every time.
