We Who Will Die review — Stacia Stark (spice level, tropes & is it worth it)

Published

we who will die by stacia stark is the kind of romantasy that ends with you immediately googling when book two comes out.

this ending was disrespectful.

i fear i’ve found another romantasy series i’m about to become completely insufferable about.

this is book one in a new series with vampires, deadly trials, slow burn romance, morally gray men, and just enough emotional damage to make me immediately need the sequel.

is we who will die worth it?

yes.

especially if you’re chasing that feeling of finishing a book and immediately needing someone else to read it so you can scream together.

the romance is slow.

the spice is minimal.

and somehow i never cared because the story kept giving me reasons to turn the page.

i also need to admit something.

i already know who i’m rooting for.

rorrik.

obviously.

don’t come into this expecting nonstop spice.

there are a few scenes sprinkled throughout, but this book is much more interested in making you desperate for these characters first.

and honestly?

it worked.

it kept me tense the entire time waiting for something to happen.

what to read after we who will die

finished we who will die and now you’re impatiently waiting for book two?

same.

if you loved the morally gray men and the slow-burn romance, read runebreaker next.

if it was the deadly trials, political tension, and impossible choices that pulled you in, pick up direbound.

and if you’re looking for another true slow burn that takes its time and makes every little moment count, daggermouth should be at the top of your tbr.

the real question isn’t whether you’ll fall for one of them.

it’s whether you’re team tiernon or team rorrik.
