Delightful Sins review — Lola King (spice level, tropes & is it worth it)

i’d put delightful sins fourth in my north shore ranking and still tell you to read it. this series makes ranking the books unnecessarily difficult.

so if you’re here trying to decide whether lola king’s mfm romance is worth your time, here’s my take. especially if, like me, you usually want the fmc to end up with one man.

is delightful sins worth it?

yes. the opening was the first thing that worked for me.

i was hooked straight away, before i’d even decided how i felt about the relationship setup. (which was needed)

what kept me happy with the mfm vibes was how different elliot and ethan are. i had a clear preference between them, which made this much easier for me to get into than the why choose label suggested.

the book

jade is caught between stepbrothers elliot pearson and ethan torres, two men tied to a past none of them has left behind. revenge and unresolved feelings collide as both men fall for the same woman.

spice level breakdown

spice rating: 4.5/5

the author lists bondage, pet play, degradation and humiliation, impact play, and collaring. those specifics will tell you more about whether the spice is for you than the number alone.

i wouldn’t pick this just to test whether you like a multiple-partner romance. make sure you’re interested in the dark elements and the kinks too.

there’s quite a bit bundled into this one.

tropes in delightful sins

  • enemies to lovers
  • forced proximity
  • why choose (mfm)
  • revenge and second chance history

standalone or series?

this is the third north shore stories book. you can approach it as an interconnected standalone, but my recommendation is to begin with beautiful fiend and follow the series.

the reading order is beautiful fiend, heartless beloved, delightful sins, then lawless god.

what to read after delightful sins

go on to lawless god next. it closes out the four-book reading order and takes the top spot in my ranking.

my personal ranking:

  1. lawless god
  2. heartless beloved
  3. beautiful fiend
  4. delightful sins

follow publication order to read them, though. (just trust me)

favorite quote

“Because that’s when I fell in love with you. The pureness of your heart clung to me. It left a mark I’ve been trying to get rid of since. And I failed. Your wholesomeness gripped me that day, and it never let me go, Jade. From that moment on, everything you did was like a call to worship.”

fictional boyfriend material?

elliot was the one i preferred. his vindictive side is a big part of the appeal for me, and i’m not going to pretend i was evaluating him for his good judgment.

he has that charming, approachable surface with something much nastier underneath. that combination is far more interesting to me than a man who is simply pleasant.

ethan brings the quieter, more guarded personality, along with his music and his history with jade. if that’s usually your weakness, you might land on a different favorite. i liked being able to make that comparison instead of feeling like the men were interchangeable.

final thoughts

i’d recommend this to someone who already enjoys dark romance and wants to try an mfm relationship with very distinct men.

my reasons are pretty straightforward: an opening that got my attention, a relationship format that held it despite my usual preferences, and elliot giving me plenty to be interested in.

it didn’t overtake the other north shore books for me. i also wouldn’t leave it out of the series. read the warnings, decide whether the setup appeals, and give book three a fair chance.
