this book belongs because…

it was HILARIOUS

verdict

a masked tiktok creator and the nurse who leaves one comment that changes everything. what starts as online curiosity quickly turns into something much more obsessive, but somehow this book never loses its sense of humor. sexy, ridiculous, surprisingly funny, and one of the most entertaining stalker romances i've read. if haunting adeline felt too dark for you but you still like the masked-man fantasy, start here.

vibe

if you picked up lights out expecting another haunting adeline, let me save you some time: it's not.
yes, it's technically a stalker romance.
yes, he's obsessed.
yes, he's wearing a mask.
but somehow this book is also hilarious.
i was genuinely kicking my feet and giggling through parts of it, which is not something i usually say about stalker romances. the whole thing feels self-aware in a way that's fun instead of overly serious, and the chemistry between them absolutely carries the story.

reader fit

read this if

you want your dark romance with a side of humor. if masked men, obsessive behavior, ridiculous chemistry, and characters who actually make you laugh sound like your thing, you'll probably have a great time with this one.

skip this if

you're looking for something truly dark or disturbing. despite the stalking, this book feels much lighter than a lot of books in the genre and doesn't have the same oppressive atmosphere as something like haunting adeline.

content warnings

stalking, obsession, violence, graphic sexual content, and darker romance themes. definitely check trigger warnings, but overall this sits on the lighter side of dark romance for me.

standalone + hea

book one in the into darkness series. no cliffhanger and yes, you get a happily ever after.
