eternal by eva simmons review — spice, tropes & is it worth it

May 25, 2026

eternal by eva simmons is a slightly darker, tension-heavy romance that keeps you hooked in that just one more chapter way.

this was one of those reads where i didn’t expect to get as into it as i did.

i’m still coming off that my dreadful darling high, and this scratched a similar itch — not the same, but close enough that i stayed locked in the whole time.

it leans into bully themes, but not in a way that feels overdone. it’s more about the push and pull.

and that’s what works.

is eternal worth it?

yes — especially if you like tension that actually carries the book.

this isn’t the darkest thing you’ll read, but it’s enticing enough to keep you hooked.

and honestly? it sets up book three perfectly.

(which… is my favorite in the series, so you’ll want to get here anyway.)

if you don’t like bully themes or push and pull dynamics, skip it.

if that’s your thing? you’ll probably eat this up.

final thoughts

this one works because of the tension.

it keeps you in that push and pull the entire time without feeling repetitive, and it’s easy to get pulled into even if it’s not your usual read.

but honestly?

this is the setup.

book 3 is where it really hits — like actually hits — and you need this one to get there.

and if you liked the vibe here, my dreadful darling is the closest thing i’ve read recently that gives that same kind of pull.

not the same story. just the same problem.
