who he is
nathan white went to prison because of her.
and the first thing he did when he got out was come back.
not to talk. not to explain. not to forgive. nathan white does not do any of those things. he came back because she has been the only thing in his head for years and he has decided that means something, and he is going to make it her problem now.
this is not a romance where the dark mmc is secretly soft underneath. this book never asks you to believe that. nathan white is morally black and lola king puts that on the page clearly and without apology. what she does instead is make you completely addicted anyway. you’ll spend the entire book not knowing whether to root for her to run or to stay, and then somewhere in the middle you’ll realize you’ve stopped asking the question.
darkness 5/5. he is not going to apologize. he is not going to open up. he is going to do exactly what he came back to do and you are going to stare at the wall when it’s over.
