Windy City series reading order – Liz Tomforde (all 5 books)
if you’ve spent more than five minutes in the romance corner of the internet, you’ve probably seen someone screaming about ryan shay.
or kai rhodes.
or isaiah rhodes.
or maybe all three.
the windy city series has become one of the most recommended sports romance series for a reason.
the problem?
everyone has a different favorite.
some readers swear the right move is the best sports romance ever written.
others will fight for caught up.
and if you ask ten readers where to start, you’ll probably get five different answers.
so let’s make this easy.
here’s the complete windy city reading order, what sport each book follows, and which one you should start with based on your vibe.
what makes the windy city series so addictive?
honestly?
it’s the characters.
yes, the romance is good.
yes, the sports are actually woven into the story.
yes, the tension is tensioning.
but what liz tomforde does really well is make every couple feel completely different.
you don’t finish one book and feel like you’re reading the same relationship with different names.
every couple has their own thing.
their own chemistry.
their own emotional conundrum.
and because the characters keep showing up throughout the series, the whole world starts feeling like one giant friend group you never want to leave.
what you’ll find in this guide
- the complete reading order
- spice levels for every book
- what sport each book follows
- which books are worth prioritizing if you’re not planning to read all five
my take
look.
if you ask ten readers which windy city book is the best, you’ll get ten different answers.
mine?
the right move and caught up.
ryan shay is one of my favorite sports romance mmcs ever written, and kai rhodes is living proof that single dad romances have no business being that good.
but here’s my biggest piece of advice:
if mile high doesn’t completely blow you away, keep going.
a lot of readers don’t find their favorite windy city book until book two or three.
the books
fair warning: you’re probably going to finish this series with a favorite rhodes brother, a favorite book boyfriend, and a sudden interest in professional sports. i don’t make the rules.
1. mile high
the one that started it all.
if you love hockey romances, forced proximity, and a mmc who slowly realizes he’s completely screwed, start here.
Mile High

2. the right move
the grumpy basketball player book that launched a thousand ryan shay obsessions.
forced proximity, fake dating, and one of the best book boyfriends in sports romance.
The Right Move
✓ on kindle unlimited

meet the fictional man
3. caught up
single dad romance supremacy.
kai rhodes is protective, devoted, and somehow makes baseball look attractive.
which honestly feels unfair.
Caught Up
✓ on kindle unlimited
a grumpy single dad baseball player hires the one nanny he can’t fire… and she’s only supposed to be there for the summer, not become something that feels like home.
meet the fictional man
4. play along
fake dating, baseball, and a relationship that somehow manages to be both chaotic and adorable.
this one is pure fun.
Play Along
✓ on kindle unlimited
she wakes up married to the baseball player who’s been obsessed with her for years… and he’s fully planning to use their fake marriage to prove he’s the real thing.
5. rewind it back
second chance romance with all the history, tension, and emotional damage you’d expect.
if you like watching two people find their way back to each other, this is your book.
Rewind It Back
✓ on kindle unlimited
the boy next door who broke her heart is now her client, her neighbor… and still the one he’s been quietly in love with since he was twelve.
the spinoff
a badass ceo and a coach forced to work together.
different couple.
same windy city world.
still worth the read.
In Her Own League
✓ on kindle unlimited

meet the fictional man
