verdict
kai azer had me in a chokehold from the moment he stepped onto the page. he's the kind of mmc who knows he shouldn't want her, tries not to want her, and then proceeds to fail spectacularly. meanwhile, paedyn spends the entire series proving that being powerless doesn't mean being powerless. if you ask me, this trilogy deserves every bit of hype it gets.
vibe
if you love the feeling of knowing two people absolutely should not fall in love... and then watching them do it anyway, powerless is going to own you.
set in a world where power determines your worth, she's the one person who shouldn't be there. he's the prince, the enforcer, the very thing she should fear. somehow, against all logic, they become each other's weakness.
spice
🌶🌶 — this series is all about tension. the spice builds throughout the books, but the longing, banter, and impossible attraction between them is what really steals the show.
reader fit
you love romantasy, forbidden romance, slow burn tension, deadly trials, touch her and die energy, and mmcs who spend an entire series trying to convince themselves they don't want the fmc.
you need lots of spice right away or can't handle cliffhangers. this series takes its time with both the romance and the overall story.
content warnings
violence, death, grief, war, political oppression, and darker fantasy themes. always check the author's trigger warnings before reading.
standalone + hea
book one in the powerless trilogy. this is not a standalone and yes, the books end on cliffhangers. the good news? the series itself delivers a happily ever after.
