the mmc doesn’t speak.

she’s blind.

somehow this book still had me kicking my feet.

one small echo completely caught me off guard, and now i’m impatiently waiting for book two.

is one small echo worth it?

yes.

i genuinely wasn’t expecting to like it this much.

i’ve said before that if a book barely has any spice…

i’m probably not picking it up.

so imagine my surprise when this ended up being one of my favorite reads of the month.

there’s basically one spicy scene.

one.

and somehow i was still gasping.

because the tension in this book is ridiculous.

you’re constantly trying to figure out who chasin really is.

what everyone is hiding.

where the story is actually going.

and just when i thought i had it figured out…

boom.

she’s being forced to marry his brother.

authors.

please.

spice level breakdown

spice rating: 1/5

🌶️

don’t read this because you’re expecting a spicy romantasy.

read it because the slow burn is actually a slow burn.

every interaction means something.

every touch feels important.

and when the spice finally happens…

it hits.

tropes in one small echo

  • true slow burn
  • she saved him
  • blind fmc
  • nonspeaking mmc

what to read after one small echo

trying to figure out what part of this book had you completely hooked?

if it was the true slow burn, read daggermouth next. it’s one of my favorite examples of a romance that actually makes you work for it.

if it was the forbidden love and impossible situation, pick up the powerless trilogy.

and if you just want another romantasy that completely consumed me, read between tides & thunder. it’s one of my favorite standalones.

final thoughts

this book reminded me why i shouldn’t judge a romantasy by its spice rating.

i didn’t have high expectations but…

i got completely pulled into the mystery, fell for a man who barely speaks, and ended up furious at another cliffhanger.

if you love slow burns that actually burn slowly…

don’t skip this one.
